Kuybyshevskiy District is situated by the Russian-Ukrainian boarder, at the junction of three regions: Rostov, Donetsk and Lugansk. The state boarder lies within the district western and northern territory, equipped with the customs control checkpoint.
The district administrative center is village Kuybyshevo.
The district territory peculiarity is its proximity to the largest towns of Rostov region. The distance from village Kuybyshevo to Rostov-on-Don is 130 km, to Taganrog and Novoshakhtinsk – 79 km.
The village Kuybyshevo was founded in 1777 by the Don Cossacks Army colonel Dmitry Martynovich Martynov. Until the beginning of the 20th century the settlement was named Martynovka, later on it was renamed into village Golodaevka, after the neighboring tract name. The village existed under this title until 1935, after the Kuybyshevskiy District establishing it was renamed into Kuybyshevo.
The district main trade is agriculture, basically, plantation: grain, corn, sunflower, etc.; and cattle breeding. The total agricultural fields territory is 54,7 thousand hectares. The district has 11 agricultural enterprises, 174 farms; processing enterprises – 6 flour factories, 7 sunflower oil producing plants, 7 bakeries, 4 macaroni factories, sausage producing plant.
The district cargo and passenger transportation is carried out by motor transport. The territory is crossed by the regional motorway “Sambek – Matveev Kurgan – Kuybyshevo – Snezhnoe (to the Ukrainian boarder)”, and the Kuybyshevo circuit road with the extension of 4,6 km; and by 84,7,km of district motorways and 39,7 km of rural roads. The distance to the federal highway M-4 “Don” is 100 km, to the nearest railway station in Matveev Kurgan, connecting Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog with Ukraine, – 34 km. The distance to the nearest Rostov-on-Don river port and airport is 130 km, to the Taganrog seaport – 79 km.
The district social sphere infrastructure is represented by 11 secondary schools and 7 kindergartens, supplementary education center; children sport school, children art school.
