Kagalnitskiy district is situated to the southwest of Rostov region. It boarders with Zernogradskiy, Azovskiy, Bagaevskiy, Aksayskiy districts of Rostov region, and with Kushevskiy district of the Krasnodar region.
The district administrative center is village Kagalnitskaya, founded in 1809 on the Kagalnik river right bank. The distance from the village to Rostov-on-Don is 50 km, to neighboring district center town of Bataysk – 38 km, to Azov – 65 km, to Zernograd – 100 km, to Krasnodar – 300 km, to Volgograd – 520 km, to Moscow – 1170 km.
The district main trade is agriculture – grain producing and cattle breeding. The district enterprises are represented by 13 large agricultural farms.
The industrial trades include 1 large enterprise, 22 agricultural products processing plants, and 20 processing plants of the small scale industrial firms.
The district is crossed by the regional motorway “Rostov-on-Don (to the highway “Don”) – Stavropol (to the Stavropol region boarder)”, and by 117,5 km of district motorways and by 71,8 km of rural roads.
There are two North Caucasus railways line’s “Bataysk - Salsk” stations on the district territory: station Konarmeiskaya, located at village Kirovskaya and station Kagalnik, located at village Kagalnitskaya.
The distance to Rostov-on-Don river port and airport from the district center is 50 km, to the Azov seaport – 38 km.
