Don Theater of Drama and Comedy named after V.F. Komissarzhevskaya is located opposite the Museum of the History of the Don Cossacks.
It was founded in 1825. Then his audience were such famous people such as A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, I. Puschin. During its existence, it received many awards and prizes, successfully toured not only in Russia, but also in the cities of the near abroad.
In 1991, the institution received its second name — Cossack Drama Theater. To date, one of its main tasks is the revival of the Cossack culture.
The repertoire includes performances on such famous works as «Dowerless girl» by A. Ostrovsky, «Woman`s Riot» by M. Sholokhov's, «The Taming of the Shrew» by W. Shakespeare's, as well as staging children's fairy tales.
